Yesterday I heard that one of my mentors died. James A. Burns was a man with a passion for liturgy and music. For six years I was trained by him in the music for the Mass and for the Office. For 33 years I have benefitted from his music and the music of the nuns of Ryde Abbey in England. May he now be singing with the angels and saints around God's throne. I truly pray that someday more of the English speaking world will have a chance to sing the music he so lovingly prepared for the Liturgy.
